At Dr Stanley Cochrane Memorial Kindergarten we warmly invite and encourage our parents to become involved to any degree that suits them. Each year at the Annual General Meeting we call for parental involvement, to elect our volunteer Committee of Management for the following year.
Participation in the Committee provides a sense of involvement in your child’s education and is a worthwhile and fulfilling role to assume. It also affords an opportunity to forge friendships with the parents of the other children at the kinder, many of whom will attend school with your child. Don’t be daunted by the thought of joining a committee, because it can be very rewarding and not to mention, a lot of fun!
The Committee is made up of the following positions:
- Executive – President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer
- General Committee – Assistant Treasurer, Maintenance Officer, Enrolments Officer, Marketing Officer, IT Officer, Newsletter Editor, Grants Officer, Social/Fundraising Committee and General Support Members
Guidance and support in these roles are provided by kindergarten staff and the outgoing Committee members. Assistance is also available from Early Learning Association Australia (ELAA) and the Department of Education and Early Childhood (DEECD) as needed. The Committee meets once a month and is responsible for the overall administration of the centre.
